Tasks

Tasks are a powerful and flexible way to model asset workflows. When used in conjunction with the inventory management feature, you can model component transfer, assembly, and installation involving any number of ports or storage facilities.

Below, you can find details on each part of the asset task functionality.

If you want to see asset tasks in action, try these pages:

Task types

Task typeDescription
TransportMoving components or assets between locations. This can be from a factory to an assembly port, from a port to wet storage, or any other transport scenario.
AssemblyAssembling an asset or part of an asset from constituent components.
FeederFeeder-assistance task. Used in conjunction with an Installation – Bottom Fixed: Feeder task to model a feeder installation.
Installation – Bottom Fixed: ShuttleInstallation with an HLV.
Installation – Bottom Fixed: FeederInstallation with assistance from a feeder vessel.
Installation – FloatingInstallation with assistance from a towing or anchor-handling logistic.

Loadout and loadoff base

Depending on the task type you select, you might need to select one or more of the following: base, loadout base, and loadoff base.

The base, applicable to assembly tasks, simply determines where the assembly takes place.

The loadout base is where the operation begins, i.e., from where the component leaves.

The loadoff base is where the component is unloaded or arrives.

Dependencies

Task dependencies let you set conditions on when a task can begin based on either a date or previous task completion.

There are several dependency types:

  • Date
    • Set the earliest possible date the task can begin
  • Individual
    • When at least 1 of the selected preceding tasks is completed, the current task can begin.
  • All
    • When all of the selected preceding tasks are completed, the current task can begin.
  • Some
    • When a set number of the preceding tasks are completed, the current task can begin.

Additional inputs:

  • Delay
    • Required when you select Individual, All, or Some as a dependency type.
    • The time between the dependency conditions being met and the current task beginning. If no delay is required, enter 0.
  • Number of units
    • Required when you select Some as a dependency type.
    • Determines how many of the tasks that you set as the Dependent task must be completed before the current task begins.

Components

Add components to tasks as part of the Shoreline Inventory Management solution. With this, you can model component stock levels changes throughout the asset workflow.

Define the components available here in the Inventory management tab of the relevant base.

Logistics

Assign a specific logistic or allow any logistic of the relevant type to carry out the tasks.
